Mirrors
for Christ

John
8:12
Later,
Jesus talked to the people again. He said, “I am the light of
the world. The
person who follows me will never live in darkness. He
will have the light that gives life.”
Matthew
5:14
“You
are the light that gives light
to the world.......”
Note:
Jesus said that He is the light in John 8:12, but in Mathew 5:14, He
says that “You”
(Christians) are the light. Which is
true?
John
9:5 While
I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Pastor's Note:
While He was in the world, He was the light. Now He is physically
gone, He is
with the Father in heaven. He is “out of sight.
Now we are to shine. Think of the sun and the
moon. The sun is
radiant and full of energy, power, and light. The moon is dead and
dull. But,
when the sun is hiding, the moon glows with light. It
gives light in the night. However, it has no
light, where is it
getting its light from? It is reflecting the light of the hidden
sun. The surface
of the moon becomes like a mirror. It reflects the
sun’s light into the dark corners of the world
at night. That
is what we are supposed to do. We must reflect the light of Christ
into the dark
places of the world of sin.

Matthew
5:16 In
the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that
they will
see the good things you do. Live so that they will praise
your Father in heaven.
A
dirty mirror does not reflect much light. The mirror needs to be
clean to shine the best.
When our hearts are filled with sin, we can
not shine for Christ properly. Our hearts need to be made clean.
Then we will truly reflect Christ into this world around us.
Matthew
13:43 Then
the good people will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their
Father. You people who hear me, listen!
Daniel
12:3 The
wise people will shine like the brightness of the sky. Those who
teach others to live right will shine like stars forever and ever.
II
Corinthians 4:6 God
once said, “Let the light shine out of the darkness!” And
this is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts. He gave
us light by letting us know the glory of God that is in the face of
Christ.
Philippians
2:15 Then
you will be innocent and without anything wrong in you. You will be
God’s children without fault. But you are living with crooked
and mean people all around you. Among them you shine like stars in
the dark world.
Revelation
21:23 The
city (The Holy City) does not need the sun or the moon to shine on
it. The glory of God is its light, and the Lamb is the city’s
lamp.
Conclusion:
Yes, now we reflect the light of Christ into this world. But if we
are faithful here, we shall shine as the stars forever and ever.
Stars are full of energy, power, and light. Some day this body of
flesh will be changed for a new body. We shall shine forever with
Christ.
But
if you are faithful until you die, I will reward you with a glorious
life. Rev. 2:10b (Contemporary English)
