Money

1.
Love of money -I Timothy 6:10
For
the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving
money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
2.
What shall it profit a man - Matthew 16:26
And how do you
benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is
anything worth more than your soul?
3.
Two Masters -Matthew
6:24
No one can serve
two masters. For you will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and
despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
4.
Rich Young Ruler - Luke 18:22027
22“There is still one thing you lack,” Jesus said. “Sell all you
have and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then
come, follow me.” 23But when the man heard this, he became
sad because he was very rich.
24Jesus watched him go and then said to his disciples, “How hard it is for rich people to get into the Kingdom of
God! 25It is easier for a camel to go
through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of
God!”
26Those who heard this said, “Then who in the world can
be saved?”
27He replied, “What is
impossible from a human perspective is possible with God.”
5.
Give and you will Receive -Luke 6;38
38If you give, you will receive. Your gift
will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room
for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving—large or
small—it will be used to measure what is given back to you.”
6.
Reap What You Sow - II Corinthians 9:6
6Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds
will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous
crop. 7You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should
give. Don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For
God loves the person who gives cheerfully. 8And God will
generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need
and plenty left over to share with others.
7.
More Blessed to Give - Acts 20:35
35And I have been a constant example of how you can help
the poor by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
8.
Where is Your Treasure? -Matthew 6:19-21
19“Don’t store up treasures here on earth,
where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and
steal. 20Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become
moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. 21Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will
also be.
9. Bring the Tithe - Malachi
3:10 Let your tenths (tithes) come into the
store-house (church offerings or treasury)
so that there may be food in my house, and put me to the test by doing
so, says the Lord of armies, and see if I do not make the windows of heaven
open and send down such a blessing on you that there is no room for it. – Basic
English Version
10. Rich Farmer - Luke 12:16-21 Then Jesus told them this parable: "There was once
a rich man who had land which bore good crops.
He began to think to himself, 'I don't have a place to keep all my
crops. What can I do? This is what I
will do,' he told himself; 'I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones,
where I will store the grain and all my other goods. Then I will say to myself, Lucky man! You
have all the good things you need for many years. Take life easy, eat, drink,
and enjoy yourself !'
But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night you will have to give up
your life; then who will get all these things you have kept for yourself ? ' " And Jesus concluded, "This is how it is
with those who pile up riches for themselves but are not rich in God's
sight."
