Wine & Strong Drink

New Living Translation

1.    I Corinthians 5:11; 6:9-10

11 What I meant was that you are not to associate with anyone who claims to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or worships idols, or is abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don’t even eat with such people.      6: 9 Don’t you know that those who do wrong will have no share in the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshipers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, 10 thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers—none of these will have a share in the Kingdom of God.

2.    Ephesians 5:18

18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you.

3.    Luke 21:34

34 “Watch out! Don’t let me find you living in careless ease and drunkenness, and filled with the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware,

4.    Romans 13:13

13 We should be decent and true in everything we do, so that everyone can approve of our behavior. Don’t participate in wild parties and getting drunk, or in adultery and immoral living, or in fighting and jealousy.

5.    Galatians 5:19-21

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, your lives will produce these evil results: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, 20 idolatry, participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in your own little group, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

6.    Isaiah 5:11,22; 28:7-8

11 Destruction is certain for you who get up early to begin long drinking bouts that last late into the night. 22 Destruction is certain for those who are heroes when it comes to drinking, who boast about all the liquor they can hold.   28: 7 Now, however, Israel is being led by drunks! The priests and prophets reel and stagger from beer and wine. They make stupid mistakes as they carry out their responsibilities. 8 Their tables are covered with vomit; filth is everywhere.

7.    Proverbs 20:1; 23:19-20

Wine produces mockers; liquor leads to brawls (fights). Whoever is led astray by drink cannot be wise.

23: 19 My child, listen and be wise. Keep your heart on the right course. 20 Do not carouse (wild party) with drunkards and gluttons, 21 for they are on their way to poverty (broke, no money).
